CCVH Gives Back to Strengthen & Enrich Our Community

We make sure that 10% of all proceeds from Center City Veterinary Hospital go to the following charitable resources helping to strengthen our community:

PAWS

PAWS is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to saving Philadelphia’s homeless, abandoned, and unwanted animals. PAWS is the city’s largest no-kill shelter and operates two high-volume, low-cost clinics serving pet owners and rescue organizations that lack access to affordable basic veterinary care.

The Monster Milers

Our primary mission is to connect Philadelphia runners with homeless dogs as running companions. We provide ongoing support for the animal shelters through sponsored adoption events and running adventures for the homeless dogs as they wait for their forever homes.

Pets of the Homeless

Feeding Pets of the Homeless also known as Pets of the Homeless is a nonprofit volunteer organization that provides pet food and veterinary care to the homeless in local communities across the United States and Canada.

The Friendship Circle

The Friendship Circle lets children and teens with special needs enjoy many of the social and recreational opportunities afforded to the community at large. We also provide a way for teenagers to offer respite and friendship to children and their families.

Scoop the Poop

The Scoop The Poop team decided to provide dog waste stations with plastic bag dispensers and a can. They wanted something functional, fairly discrete, inexpensive and urban-looking. Inspiration came from a lightweight, ribbed plastic-like material spotted at a construction site. Janet Kalter found a New Jersey distributer of the stuff. Her life partner, Joe Schiavo, enjoys a bit of industrial engineering, so he designed the bag dispensers and cans.

There are now about a dozen complete stations hanging on poles around Old City and the program has been expanded to provide stations to other neighborhoods as well.

Sister Cities Park

At the midpoint on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway between City Hall and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Sister Cities Park adds a picturesque swath of green to the heart of Philadelphia's notable arts and cultural district. From here, panoramic views bring skyscrapers, historic cathedrals and museums into harmony, while the Sister Cities fountain, a unique representation of the world with Philadelphia at its center, is close enough for adults to touch and children (and dogs) to run through. The fountain’s 10 geyser-like spouts mark our 10 sister cities, each positioned according to its global relationship to Philadelphia.

Pet of the Month

Here at Center City Veterinary Hospital, we are very fortunate to have such incredible patients and clients.  Each month, our staff will enter pets’ names into a bag whenever they come across an exceptional well-behaved or mighty brave pet that was a true superstar during their visit. At the end of each month we will randomly draw one of the superstar patients’ names and award them as the following month’s “Pet of the Month”! Pets of the month are featured on our photo wall as well as our facebook page.

Artist of the Month- First Friday

During the warmer weather months, CCVH invites local artist clients to showcase their work at the hospital during Old City's First Friday monthly event. We also provide food and beverages to enhance the festivities. Former sponsors have included Starr RestaurantsWyerbacher BreweryThe Pet Snobs BoutiqueO'Neal's Pub, and 4 Fathers. “Bailey absolutely loves going! Every time we take a walk past their building, Bailey waits at the door to go in. He doesn't even notice when they give him a shot because he's so preoccupied with the treats the technician is giving him.”

“After struggling to get appointments at my old vet I was thrilled to find that Center City Vet is not only flexible, but friendly, affordable and knowledgable. I have felt nothing but appreciated and welcomed at this practice. My cats even seemed to have the best appointments of their lives (in terms of calmness) due to the gentle but thorough. I think the greenies treats helped too! Highly recommend this practice!”

“My dog Molly has been a patient since we adopted her at 6 months old. She loves Dr. Cohen as much as we do. He is a brilliant veterinarian with a love for animals you expect from a Vet but rarely find.” — Joshua

“Dr. Cohen and the rest of the staff at Center City vet are fantastic. They are very quick when an appointment is needed and thorough. My cat Dexter and I have become spoiled because they take such good care of him! Thanks for everything you guys do!” — Emilee

“I have been bringing my dog to Center City Vet Hospital since they first opened. All of the staff is extremely professional and caring. I am glad to see that their business continues to grow without any effect on the quality of their service. I highly recommend taking your pet here.”

“The staff at CCVH are incredible. They go out of their way to ensure our pup is getting the best care possible. Our rescue dog has extreme separation anxiety, and he has always been available to help answer our questions, no matter what the concern. The facility is beyond bright and clean, and is by far the best vet hospital in the city.”

“The staff is so nice and the hospital is very efficient and clean.  It’s never too crowded and we’re in and out for a physical/vaccine update in about 30-40 min.  I lived around the corner when I first adopted my dog, so I went to CCVH out of convenience, but after moving across town and loving the service, I continued going.”

“The nurses are kind and caring. My dogs even like to go visit regularly. What dog do you know likes to go to the vet just to visit and say hi ??!   They have always fit my animals in, even when they are booked. Their prices are extremely reasonable, unlike other neighborhood veterinarians. ”
