Meet The Staff at Center City Veterinary Hospital
Rebecca Cohen feels incredibly lucky to work at, and co-own, Center City Veterinary Hospital. What was once her husband’s dream has slowly become her third child as she slowly took on more responsibility at the practice. Currently, as “mother” of the practice, she fawns over the pets that enter the hospital and works hard, though part time, to take care of the organization, finance and people who work and venture into the CCVH community.
Before managing the hospital, Rebecca taught high school English in Michigan, taught as an Assistant Instructor at Indiana University while earning her dual PhD in Education and American Studies, and worked as an Assistant Professor at a small liberal arts college.
When the practice opened in late 2010, Rebecca had left academia and was mom to her and Dr. Cohen’s spirited and adorable one year old, Adina. She was also three months pregnant with what would be her sweet and funny son, Benjamin. “The Rog” and Jakes round out the rest of the Cohen household quite literally as they are both rather ... overweight. Three and a half years later, her family and the Philadelphia community gives Rebecca the spirit, hope, and perspective that keeps her a grounded (though usually frenzied) mom, wife, and hospital manager.
Dana has been a part of the Philadelphia animal community since 2006. She started her career in her hometown, in New Jersey, at a holistic practice in 2000 and through hard work, study, and dedication, worked her way up to manage a veterinary clinic in north Philly. Here at CCVH since 2012, Dana is our associate manager and surgical technician. Since CCVH is paperless, she is also our resident computer programmer, graphic designer, and master of all things technical expert. Applying her love of medicine to the care and comfort of our animal companions is what drives her. She’s thrilled to be at CCVH where that is fostered every day. A nerd at heart, Dana enjoys reading, research, documentaries, hiking, and spending time at home with her husband, her sweet ham of a dog, Frankie and her two cats, Violette and Shosh.
Client Services Coordinator
As a Client Services Coordinator here at CCVH, Autumn take great pride in the fact that our hospital strives to go above and beyond for our clients. As a new Philadelphian, Autumn moved here in 2015 to further her veterinary knowledge and go back to school to eventually become a Veterinary Surgeon. Dr. Cohen is like an open book and has given her such a great opportunity to learn and grow here at CCVH, all the while perfecting her customer service and office skills. When she is not rocking the client services aspect of the hospital, she is either at home with her two cats, Oli and Belle, and her lovebug of a pit bull, Reese, or outside hiking, relaxing at the shore, or searching for a great, new restaurant to try a new, exotic food. Autumn is learning more and more as she begins to assist the technicians every day, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her!
Inventory Manager/ Technician
Erica's life-long love of all animals started while volunteering with her Mom at local shelters. It also helped that she grew up with two brother cats and her babysitter was a 160lb Doberman. She began her career in veterinary medicine at the young age of 15, first working as a kennel attendant/assistant. Her love of animals was ever-growing, while she experienced general practice, veterinary surgery, emergency medicine, and exotics medicine. Erica received her Master of Laboratory Animal Science from Drexel University in 2012 and hopes to one day apply and attend veterinary school. She currently lives in Port Richmond and has 2 cats (Chicken Ellis and Mika) and a boyfriend. Erica loves to snowboard and loves to be challenged and learn something new about veterinary medicine every day. Erica absolutely loves her place at CCVH and never, ever wants to leave, unless of course she gets into vet school!
Kayla has been with CCVH since August 2016 but has worked as a technician since 2012. Right out of high school she went to school to become a vet tech and eventually sat for the national exam to get her certification. Most recently she graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelors in Pre-Veterinary Medicine. On her days off she likes to spend time at the Penn Vet working dog center, helping in the training of future police dogs. When she isn't working or volunteering she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and spending time with her pets, a Chocolate lab/Rottweiler mix named Dion and a ball python named Nagini.
Lauren is a lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area, and has over ten years of experience in the veterinary field. She started as a veterinary assistant in a large surgical referral practice where she learned that attention to detail is the key to providing optimal quality patient care. Lauren quickly advanced her career through hard work and dedication to become a skilled veterinary technician. She especially enjoys surgery and anesthesia, where her talent and knowledge are used to ensure the health and care of our CCVH patients. Lauren treats each and every patient as if it were her own pet, always putting herself in the owner’s shoes. She continuously strives to provide the highest quality patient care possible. Lauren is a true animal lover, sharing her household with three Great Danes named Ridley, Rummy and Lyla, a red eared slider turtle named Turdy, and an independent but gorgeous red tabby cat named Maple.
Luisa grew up in Los Angeles but is now a West Philly transplant. Spending most of her life in LA, she soon found herself living in Baja California while taking a Veterinary Assistant course in San Diego. Once completing the program she was then offered a job in San Francisco and after 4 years of living in the bay area she moved across the country with her partner, 3 dogs and 1 cat. During her spare time Luisa loves exploring new parks with her critters, crocheting and collecting vinyl.
Maddie has been a member of the CCVH team since June 2016 but is a lifelong resident of the Philadelphia area. She grew up with a multitude of pets; her dad is a veterinarian and she loved spending time at the animal hospital or with her family's dogs, cats, birds, and turtles. Growing up around veterinary medicine has proven to be in Maddie's blood as she is climbing the ladder here at CCVH, quite quickly. We thrilled to have her as part of our team! Maddie loves her cat Guppy, reading, and hiking with her dog Jenny.
Molly has a great sense of humor and a sweet disposition. She is an animal lover that grew up in PA with dogs, cats, and horses. She began showing horses competitively at the age of 7. Molly moved to Colorado where she received her CVT (Certified Veterinary Technician) and recently moved back to the Philadelphia area. She feels extremely lucky to have found a career here at CCVH and has begun to develop her training in surgery and anesthesia. Molly lives in South Philadelphia with her newly adopted kitten, Olive and enjoys spending her free time with friends and family and skiing.
Naudia is from a small town in Indiana and moved to Philadelphia in December of 2016. Animals have always been a passion of hers. She was introduced to the veterinarian field in August 2015. Because of her passion and how much she enjoyed working at a vet clinic, she was inspired to pursue veterinarian medicine. She plans on going to vet school after obtaining a bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Business with a minor in Spanish. When Naudia is not being a student, she enjoys reading, playing video games, and taking care of her furbabies with her boyfriend. She has two dogs (Denver and Kojo pictured left), four cats (Yankee, Ash, Miley, and Mosby), and a macaw (Indigo). Naudia is thankful to be working alongside such great, supportive people here at CCVH that help her continue to learn and grow each day!
Hannah was born and raised in Philadelphia. She has grown up with yellow labs, a jack-russell/pug mix, and has had many exotic pets. Her love for animals started when she was young as a volunteer at animal rescues. Her experience in customer service in the veterinary field, along with volunteering at Penn Vet Working Dog Center and Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah, has fueled her passion. She is graduating from Temple University in May 2017 with a degree in psychology and cognitive neuroscience. Hannah will continue her passion helping people and animals by providing a welcoming and friendly environment at CCVH!
Sarah is excited to be learning all about veterinary medicine at Center City Veterinary Hospital! Each day brings new surprises, learning opportunities, and the chance to make a difference. Sarah grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia and has always loved animals, especially her two cockatiels, Cookie and Buddy. Sarah graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors in Biochemistry followed by a Masters of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology at Yale University. She comes to veterinary medicine after an initial career in scientific research at the National Institutes of Health and Yale. In the future, she hopes to use her science experience and passion for veterinary clinical medicine to expand treatment options available to our animal family members! In her spare time, she enjoys exploring Philadelphia, taking dance classes, and hanging out with my dog and cat, Lita and PJ.
